This happy and successful specialist primary school in South Harrow is seeking to appoint full time teachers to join our team, as we expand to welcome a larger cohort of pupils from September 2025. Flexible working requests would be considered.

Alexandra School supports 80 wonderful children and their families. Children learn in class groups of up to 10, supported by at least two Teaching Assistants. Alexandra School is part of the Eden Academy Trust. To find out more about our school please visit our website: www.alexandra-school.co.uk

The children at Alexandra School have more complex, moderate learning disabilities. We support children to develop their language and communication skills, in the context of a broad and exciting curriculum. Some children may have difficulties associated with social, emotional and behavioural needs, and many children have a diagnosis of an autistic spectrum condition. We are committed to working together to develop our professional understanding of and approach to meeting these needs.

You would be joining a warm, committed and enthusiastic team, who perform to the highest professional standard. Staff at this school demonstrate high levels of resilience and are ready to engage fully with all aspects of school life, including supporting the children in class, at playtime, while swimming and on our annual overnight camping trip!

As a member of our teaching team, you will benefit from:

  • an excellent programme of professional and career development, both within the school and across the Eden Academy Trust
  • the opportunity to work alongside and learn from a range of other professionals – therapists, colleagues from other specialist settings and family support services
  • a comprehensive wellbeing package

Applications welcome from teachers who have Early Years, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 experience. The role would equally suit Early Career, or more experienced teachers. Special school experience is not a requirement, but the successful candidate will have had success working with children with additional needs.

Our School

Alexandra School is a fully inclusive primary school that specialises in supporting pupils aged 4–11 with complex, moderate learning disabilities, sometimes associated with behavioural, emotional, social, communication, physical or sensory needs.

Our pupils learn best alongside their peers, engaging in social learning in small groups, within a stimulating environment.

Adaptations can be made seamlessly for pupils who require lower stimulation at times in order to re-regulate in readiness to learn.

Alexandra School caters for pupils who may experience a range of cognitive, communication, and social and emotional difficulties which would make placement in a mainstream setting too challenging for the child.

The school offers full-time places for all its pupils.

Alexandra School serves the Harrow community and as such, reflects the ethnic diversity of the local population.

Alexandra School is a member of the Eden Academy Trust, a family of schools that specialise in meeting the educational needs of children and young people with a range of learning difficulties.
