‘The staff team is long standing and cohesive and they receive very good levels of training, performance appraisal and supervision’ Ofsted 2017

Wishmore Cross Academy is a very special learning environment that provides a happy, caring community where everyone is encouraged and supported to achieve their goals.  We are a residential special school in Chobham, Surrey, for boys aged 9 to 16 years who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties. We admit up to 70 boys and can offer up to 14 residential places (including extended days) on a flexible basis for up to 4 nights per week.

We are situated within easy reach of the M25 and M3 and, although in Surrey, is very close to Berkshire and Hampshire. Ofsted judged our Residential Provision to be ‘outstanding’ for the last six years.

We are looking to grow and add to our outstanding team of teachers, support staff, assistant psychologists and leaders, and we would welcome applications from individuals looking to build a career within SEND as well as from colleagues with prior experience.

We offer:

  • Tailored career paths from Learning Support roles to teacher training
  • Graduate opportunities to develop your expertise in the field
  • Shadowing opportunities for support staff to observe, develop and train in the field of education psychology.
  • An opportunity to join a SEN special school at the forefront of developments in emotional and mental health
  • An academy that is an expert in the use of Restorative Justice Practices
  • An academy that leads on the use of Restraint Reduction Practices

We offer an open invitation to visit us, speak to key staff and have that all important conversation, no matter where you are in your career to date. This will be on Wednesday 14 March 2018.

To book your place or for any other questions/queries please contact Greg Moss at gmoss@wishmorecrossacademy.org

As  the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them.  In each of our academies, you will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes.  You will also be entitled to the following benefits: a health cash plan, vehicle affinity scheme and childcare vouchers.

Wishmore Cross is a Special Academy for up to 82 boys (with 80 currently on roll) aged 7 to 16 who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties. We provide a highly effective and individual package of education, care and pastoral support to young people who may have had only negative experiences of school. A safe, caring environment supported by high levels of staffing ensures that each pupil has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Based in Chobham, located close to both the M3 and M25 Motorways in the north-west corner of Surrey, the Academy draws pupils from a range of backgrounds, both urban and rural, across Surrey and also neighbouring LEAs.

We're an Academy with a big heart. Staff work closely as a team and pride themselves on never giving up on a pupil. This is, however, a challenging environment where resilience and a deep commitment to supporting young people with Special Educational Needs are paramount.
