Job overview

Southend-On-Sea Borough Council is recruiting a SEN Services Manager. This job role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis and could be a fantastic prospect if you are passionate about improving the lives of children with Special Educational Needs.

The team is looking for a committed professional to lead the provision of high quality SEN Casework including the statutory processes for Education Health and Care Plans in line with current legislation. In exchange for your passion and dedication to the role, the team can offer the Council’s benefits package (e.g. competitive pay, pension etc.) and with the Council having excellent transport links to London (less than an hour) this could be a great opportunity for you.

The team is seeking someone who is educated to degree level or holds equivalent/other relevant experience and can demonstrate successful experience of working at a senior level in a SEN related role.

The SEN team is committed to positive outcomes and offers a challenging and varied role including responsibility for the quality of the draft and final Education, Health and Care Plans within statutory timescales and ensuring ongoing quality assurance systems are in place. This role also may take the lead to represent the Local Authority at SEN Disability Tribunals where mediation support has not resolved issues.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants for this role will require an enhanced DBS check. The Council is an equal opportunities employer. They welcome applications, regardless of race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origins, sex, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, age or religion or belief. All applications will be considered solely on merit.
