Are you a SEN Teacher committed to improving the lives of children and young people?

We are looking for an experienced SEN Teacher to join our fantastic team at Acorn Park School. As a SEN Teacher, you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises children’s achievement and ability to develop.

This is a great opportunity for a SEN Teacher who wants to spend less time on paperwork and more time developing creative learning opportunities for children with varied and complex needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure, and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

When it comes to looking after our children, we never settle for second best. We are looking for a SEN Teacher, who shares our vision to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young people in the UK, to be happy and to make their way in the world.

Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

Educated to Qualified Teacher Status, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, and have an innovative style of teaching, motivated by helping every child to reach their potential.

We have a mixture of Day and Residential pupils as we have 8 co-located children’s homes on our 30 Acre site in rural Norfolk. On site, we also have a large Forest School and Animal Care Farm along with play facilities, a sports hall and sensory rooms.

Teachers can expect to be given a Laptop, have lunch provided daily with the children and have a range of benefits from Teachers Pension to Bupa Medical care and a number of salary sacrifice schemes too.

Why join us?

Our benefits package includes free parking, shopping discounts and cashback via our ‘Rewards Hub’, and access to content on mindfulness, fitness, recipes and much more as part of our ‘Your Wellbeing Matters’ programme.

As well as opportunities for internal promotion, you will have access to high-quality Continuing Professional Development to help pursue your own personal goals. We also offer accredited training programmes including Diplomas and NVQs, supplemented by ongoing learning opportunities.  Ultimately, all of our roles give you the opportunity to enrich the lives of young people and make a positive difference.

Our wraparound care and teaching approach enhances our children’s lives, making them as independent as they are able to be, and having a positive impact on the whole family.

Our classrooms - in different buildings across our site - are well resourced with small class sizes and a personalised curriculum. Our experienced autism-specific approach means that every young person’s learning needs, communication requirements and social skills are met. Their lives are enhanced significantly.

Our living arrangements are welcoming, modern and homely; offering well equipped facilities and numerous after-school activities. As well as our boarding houses, we have a community of small houses for teenagers and young adults who are able to live semi-independently.

The layout of Acorn Park means our pupils can walk safely to and from school, can enjoy our adventure playgrounds, outdoor space & the multi sensory play barn. We enjoy frequent trips to local villages & the zoo, and regularly enjoy activities around Thetford Forest and at the seaside towns around East Anglia.
