Tes is supporting the appointment of a SEN Teacher at a Special Needs school in Cumbria.

We are looking for a SEN Teacher to join our team at Underley Garden in Kirkby Lonsdale.

Purpose of the Job

You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential. Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important. Experience of continuous provision and experiential learning would also be of real interest.

To help enhance learning opportunities for our pupils, we now have an opportunity for a teacher to join our close-knit team. You will be delivering inclusive, responsive and innovative teaching and learning in a nurturing environment. You will constantly strive to produce outstanding/good teaching and always learning to ensure that all learners succeed. Under the reasonable direction of the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team, carry out the professional duties of a school teacher as set out in the current School policies and uphold the professional code of the GTC.

You will teach in accordance with the ethos, organisation and policies of the school as a fully committed member of the teaching team and as detailed in the specific duties and core standards below.

The School is a large school with small class sizes, focusing on children and young people, aged 5-19, who have a range of complex needs associated with autism and learning disabilities, including complex communication, sensory and behavioural needs associated with their disabilities.

The School adopts a holistic, person-centred approach to the development of their young people and endeavours to ensure that they achieve as high a standard as possible. They offer a comprehensive portfolio of education, care and therapy to meet the individual requirements of young people with complex special educational needs.

Located near the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale on the edge of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales in a commutable distance of Lancaster, Cumbria and surrounding areas.
