Are you ready for a new challenge? Do you want to be part of a happy, supportive and forward-thinking school? If so, this is an incredibly exciting time to come and join our team. We are looking for an innovative, dynamic and creative Class Teacher to join our Special Needs School.
The Garden School is a specialist co-ed school for 200 pupils, aged 4-19, with a diagnosis of autism. It operates from two sites in Hackney, one of which was awarded the 2014 RIBA prize for Best Educational and Community Building in London.
Our mission is to ensure that all of our pupils and students, whatever their starting point and needs, learn safely, make exceptional progress and develop into capable, creative and confident young citizens. In our 2024 graded Ofsted inspection we achieved good in all areas.

The role
We are looking for good to outstanding teachers with SEN experience who will contribute to a strong school vision and ethos.
We welcome teachers with experience, who have taught young people with special needs, in mainstream or special needs provisions.
We are looking for a teacher who will:
- Be able to understand how our young people learn and plan lessons which will inspire them to reach their full potential.
- Be able to create a positive, stimulating, and caring learning environment that safeguards young people.
- Be a good communicator and work effectively with members of our community, including families, health and social care practitioners.
- Have good organisational, management and interpersonal skills, to effectively lead a small class team, and manage their own workload.
- Be an innovative, patient, resilient, positive and reflective practitioner, contributing to the school’s vision and values.
- Be willing to participate in training, be reflective and committed to continuing professional development.
