Job Title:  SEN Teacher w/ lead responsibilities whole school

Location:  Kestrel House School, Crouch End, London

Salary:   Up to £51,000 per annum

Hours:   36 hours per week, Monday to Friday; Mon-Tues 8.15am-4.15pm, Weds 8.15am-4pm, Thurs 8.15am-3.45pm, Fri 8.15am-3.30pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a SEN Teacher with lead responsibilities to join our close-knit team at Kestrel House School located in Crouch End, London.

About The Role

To develop the academic capabilities, social and communication skills and understanding of pupils, focussing on successful and purposeful learning. To lead the class team by example and direction, ensuring the highest quality of education and care for every pupil.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To develop and implement schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the requirements of the National Curriculum.
  • To ensure that schemes of work contain practical, interesting and contextual opportunities to learn
  • To organise the learning environment and develop resources in order to facilitate the learning process.
  • To establish positive relationships with pupils and to develop close, professional relationships with parents/carers.
  • To use assessment tools effectively and according to school deadlines, to record pupil progress.
  • To foster enthusiasm for learning
  • To ensure that pupils are challenged in their learning and aim to achieve their full potential. 
  • To share responsibility for the well being, safety and behaviour management of pupils in line with the school’s policies. 
  • To demonstrate excellent practice and work collaboratively and supportively with colleagues.
  • To work in partnership with all stakeholders.
  • To strive to meet the needs of the pupils.
  • To keep accurate records in line with school policies.

About Us

Kestrel House School is an independent day school for children aged 4 to 16 years, who hold a current Statements of Special Educational Needs for Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD’s) and associated social and communication difficulties.

The site is in London, Haringey Borough within Crouch End area, quite close to central London. The location has the advantage of easy access to public transport, having the over ground station located 5 to 10 min walk away from the school and a 2 bus stops right outside of the school front gates.
