Who are we?  

Seashell Trust is a national charity supporting children and young adults with complex learning disabilities and additional communication and physical needs from across the UK.  

We provide specialist care and education, for children and young adults from 2-25 years. 

Judged Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ 2016/2017 for the third consecutive time, Royal School Manchester is recruiting for a Teacher for our post 16 year old class group.

What is the role? 

  • The position will be responsible for a group of ASC students and be a line manager for a group of Teaching Assistants who provide 1:1 support for the students to deliver the highest possible standard of learning
  • The students follow an individual and functional timetable including vocational, leisure, functional key skills, home management, physical development and personal and social skills 
  • The Teacher will work with a range of highly skilled professionals including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and ASC specialists.  


What are the requirements? 

  • Previous SEN teaching experience of Key Stage 4 and post 16 
  • Previous teaching experience with students who have sensory impairment, autism and/or communication difficulties and severe/complex learning difficulties, and some challenging behaviour 
  • Experience of positive behaviour support and behaviour management strategies
  • Experience of differentiating the Curriculum - Strong people management, motivation and leadership skills 
  • Teaching Degree or Post Graduate Certificate (Qualified Teacher Status or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills QTLS)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
