Job overview

The Solent Special Education Trust is a Special School Multi-Academy Trust in Southampton consisting of Great Oaks School, a secondary school for children with a wide range of learning difficulties and Rosewood School, an all age school for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties.

As a result of growth we require new teachers for September 2019. Some previous experience and an interest in working with children with SEN  is required. We would welcome applicants from newly qualified teachers.

The positions are to the Multi-Academy Trust and could be at either school. However, applicants are welcome to express a preference of school in the supporting statement section of  their application. This will be discussed further with candidates shortlisted for interview.

Solent Special Education Trust is a newly formed Multi-Academy Trust in Southampton currently comprising Rosewood Free School  for pupils aged 2- 25 years with profound and multiple learning difficulties and Great Oaks School a secondary special school for young people with a wide range of learning difficulties. 

The Trust currently supports two schools on five site across the City catering for over 300 children and young people and employing over 200 staff. Pupils come to the schools from across Southampton and parts of Hampshire. SSET are currently preparing a bid for a new Free Special School in Southampton to meet the increased demand for places in our schools.

The schools in the Trust are keen to retain their individual identity whilst finding increasing opportunities to collaborate for the benefit of our communities. The Trust is supported by active and skilled Members, Trustees and Governors.
