Ryde Academy, based on the Isle of Wight, is an 11 to 18 years Secondary Academy and is sponsored by the Academies Enterprise Trust (AET). There are approximately 1,000 students on roll and this is expected to rise to 1,500 by 2017. The school is set in spacious grounds in the town of Ryde which is a short walk from the local esplanade; providing excellent transport links to Portsmouth and Southsea.

In 2017, Ryde Academy will have a new multi-million pound school building on the existing site, with a student capacity of 1,500.

The role:

The Inclusion and Special Educational Needs department at Ryde Academy provides support for students’ individual needs. The department benefits from a dedicated teaching area with ICT facilities to facilitate a range of interventions.

We are looking to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant to work as part of a team to provide support for students’ individual needs. Our SEN Teaching Assistants usually work in a classroom setting with the teacher, to support access to learning for students.

You may be beginning your career as a Teaching Assistant or you may be a highly experienced Teaching Assistant looking to move into a role which will enable you to progress your career towards a Higher Level Teaching Assistant role.

The successful candidates will have good literacy and numeracy skills and will have the ability to relate well to both children and adults.
