Tes is supporting the appointment of a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a School based in Wandsworth.

The School is an outstanding Independent Special School for students aged 4-11 with mild to moderate, complex learning needs. They are part of the Cavendish Group, a unique group of educational independent day and boarding schools. They work closely with the other schools in their group and believe in 'thinking differently’ and being as creative as possible in their teaching.

The School is seeking to recruit an energetic Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. You will need to be passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and committed to providing them with the best educational support possible. You will be working in close partnership with their teachers, therapists, other teaching assistants and parents.

  • Working hours: 8.00 - 16.30, Monday to Friday, term-time only (ca. 40 weeks a year)
  • Actual Salary: £ 21,000-24,000 depending on experience (actual salary)
  • Contract: permanent or fixed term
  • Start date: flexible

Responsibilities

  • To assist teaching staff to plan and prepare lessons and resources within the school curriculum.
  • To make and prepare resources for teaching and therapy staff.
  • To reinforce targets throughout the school day.
  • To support students both within the class and during unstructured situations.
  • To support the teaching and therapy staff to maintain detailed case notes of all children seen.
  • To produce and maintain up-to-date pupils’ profile and behaviour plans.
  • To follow school procedures in reporting incidents and safeguarding concerns.
  • To act as a resource and support for other staff members working with the children.
  • To participate in supervision and support as required.
  • To maintain continuous professional development.
