Job overview

West Witney Primary School & Nursery requires a SEND Teaching Assistant from January 2023. The post is 27.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday, term time only and would be as part of the Key Stage One team, supporting children with challenging special educational needs. The position is fixed term and will run for the rest of this academic year.

We are looking for a person experienced with working with children in a primary school setting and an understanding of the support needed for children with additional or challenging needs. Hours required are from 8.40am to 3.10pm each week day.

We are looking for a teaching assistant who has experience of working with children in a primary or early years setting and in particular with the following skills:

  • Excellent communication, numeracy and literacy skills
  • A good understanding of supporting children with additional needs in a mainstream classroom
  • A good understanding of the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice
  • The ability to support individual children under the guidance of the class teacher
  • The ability to work flexibly and effectively on your own and as part of a team
  • A professional approach
  • A positive attitude and a sense of humour
