SENCo Assistant

Salary: CAN scale 19-23 (£24,406 - £27,203 FTE, £20,355 - £22,687 pro-rata per annum).

Working hours: 36 per week between 8.00am and 4.00pm. 190 days per year (188 term days plus 2 staff preparation days)

This is a non-teaching post which will give the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to work closely with young people supporting them in their school life. You will be expected to work effectively with both teaching and support staff at all levels as well as with parents/carers, students, Assistant Psychologists and external agencies. Therefore, it is essential to have a high degree of professionalism in your approach to work and tasks set as well as having the ability to be a good role model for students and colleagues.

As a SENCo Assistant you will be part of a team working under the direction of the SENCo, as well as the Senior Leadership Team link for SEN.

This role will require you to handle sensitive issues relating to students and keeping confidentiality, form good working relationships with students, parents/carers and colleagues. The SENCo assistant role requires good oral and written communication skills, organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure as well as being able to be adaptable and flexible in all working practices and knowing when to know your initiative.

Oaks Park High is a rapidly improving secondary school set in extensive grounds in the London Borough of Sutton. The school has recently been rated GOOD by Ofsted:
