Teachers at Appleton Academy can experience first-hand the development of specialist subjects from early years through to GCSE. By joining Appleton Academy, you will play a key role in shaping a continuum of education and support from the age of 3 to 16.


We are looking for a Secondary SENCo who will provide the leadership and development of inclusive secondary provision associated with ensuring that all learners are challenged to achieve their potential at Appleton Academy.  You will uphold the Academy’s Policies in respect of Safeguarding and Child Protection, whilst ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all learners.  You will meet regularly with the Leader of SEN, Learning Support and Primary SENCo to ensure clarity of understanding on a range of issues and to ensure effective transition from primary to secondary and share best practice.  The successful candidate will line manage the support staff team responsible for providing intervention to learners with Special Educational and Additional Needs and work with the senior leadership team to develop a shared understanding and cohesive approach to intervention.


The successful applicant will 

• Have Qualified Teacher Status

• Have evidence of continuing CPD relevant to the SENCO role or be willing to undertake training

• Be experienced at middle leader level

• Be able to lead, coach and motivate staff
