Sir Frederic Osborn School is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. It is a community state school that is part of the Welwyn Hatfield Consortium, a selection of five schools in the Welwyn and Hatfield area that work together.

A smaller than average secondary school, Sir Frederic Osborn School provides 1,226 places for secondary and sixth-form students when fully subscribed.

Its history dates back to the mid 20th century. Two new schools were built in 1956 (High School, Herns Lane) and 1960 (Attimore Secondary Modern School) to serve the expanding community in the area. The schools merged in 1968 and were renamed Sir Frederic Osborn School, after one of Welwyn Garden City’s founding fathers.

Ofsted report

“Students behave well and work hard in lessons. Students of all ages are eager to take responsibility and leadership roles. The behaviour of sixth form students is exemplary. Students’ progress, including that of disadvantaged students, is on course to compare favourably with that expected nationally. Provision for students’ personal development and for their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good. The school prepares students well for life in modern Britain.”
