Queensmead School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to act as SENCO.  The successful candidate should have completed, be working towards or be prepared to undertake the training to complete the National Award for SEN Coordinators.

You will work in partnership with, and advise SLT in the decision-making and leadership of SEND, to promote relevant school policy and accept full responsibility for SEND across the school.

The SENCO will:

  • Lead and develop teaching and learning, to ensure equal access for all groups of pupils
  • Contribute to the discussion of the school’s aims and policies and participate in the implementation of policies, plans, targets and practices
  • Secure and sustain effective teaching for individuals, groups and classes
  • Lead and manage the SEN Department
  • Develop, monitor and control relevant resources

Queensmead School is based in South Ruislip, Middlesex, and is a ‘Good’, oversubscribed 11-18 mixed comprehensive school where students achieve very highly and display ‘excellent behaviour’ (Ofsted).  It currently has around 1,450 students.

Values and Vision

Queensmead School strives to maintain a learning environment where students can reach their maximum potential, wherever their skills may lie. Technology is a key part of the education environment, with devices such as visualisers, iPads and Chromebooks a regular classroom feature. There is also a strong emphasis on attendance and punctuality, with these qualities seen as essential to the learning process and academic endeavour.

Queensmead offers students the chance to participate in activities such as music tuition and sports, with facilities including basketball courts, a fitness zone and access to five-a-side football pitches. International experiences offered to secondary students include language development in France, Germany and Spain, trekking excursions in Morocco, and skiing in Italy and Austria.
