We are looking for an outstanding SENCo who can lead, develop and enhance the teaching and pastoral support strategies for our relatively small SEND cohort within our dedicated Ursula Suite.

In your role, you will:

  • Evaluate the quality of teaching and support, and develop the most effective provision for students.

  • Create a vision, sense of purpose and pride in the Ursula Suite, maintaining a secure environment in which purposeful learning and support can take place.

  • Act as a role model with high expectations of all staff and students.

  • Create an achievement culture, including rewards, identification of progression routes and successes.

  • Be accountable for the strategic direction, leadership and management of the SEND support provided from the Ursula Suite, including the development of related policies, plans and targets.

  • Be accountable for the highest standards of achievement for SEND students.

  • Promote the highest standards of Teaching & Learning as the Lead Learner in pedagogy and support practice.

  • Effectively line manage the SEND staff to ensure there is a positive system of care, support and social and personal development.

St Angela's Ursuline School is a voluntary aided school based in Newham in London for girls aged 11-18. It is a Roman Catholic school.

The school was built in 1862 by the sisters of the Ursuline order, inspired by the vision of their founder and the school’s namesake.

Approximately 90% of the school’s population are from ethnic minority backgrounds.
