Required: January 2022

JM2 (£36,817) or TMS/UPS plus TLR 1A £8,540 (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Permanent, Full Time

Are you a SENCO committed to improving the lives of children and young people?   We are looking to appoint a SENCO to join us in January 2022 to be part of our forward thinking and aspirational team.

The successful candidate will not only provide strategic leadership of this area but also work alongside colleagues, providing practical support for learning, educational activities, developing social skills, integration and securing students’ social emotional and physical wellbeing.

We want someone who enjoys working with young people, who believes it is a privilege to be a part of their journey into adulthood, and who understands the challenges faced by young people growing up in today's world.

Please note that within Clevedon School, the SENCO position is a non-teaching role (although some small group-work is undertaken).

Applications are most welcome from those able to articulate a track record of excellence, an ability to make a positive impact across the school and who hold values that align with the school’s motto, “Be Kind – Be Brilliant”. We welcome conversations with individuals who feel they have something to offer and want to explore the available opportunities. Further information about the school can be found at: https://www.clevedonschool.org.uk/openevening/

Clevedon School proudly serves the local community and surrounding area and is part of the Clevedon Learning Trust. It has an increasing roll with 1300 students on site, including a growing Post-16 provision for 200 students.

You are very welcome, and encouraged, to visit the school by prior arrangement.  Please email the Headteacher’s PA, Sarah Caswell, on scaswell@clevedonschool.org.uk to arrange a visit.

Values and Vision

Clevedon School prioritises the pupils. They are nurtured and supported while at the academy. Students are encouraged to take responsibility and take advantage of every opportunity that is offered to them. The school believes in teaching through the use of technology. In 2013, iPads started being used in lessons. The children are taught about being safe online and how to use the device. The aim is to help students develop the skills necessary for the workplace.

Ofsted report

“Clevedon is an outstanding school which provides excellent opportunities for students to thrive and develop highly effective skills and aptitudes. The school’s focus on raising standards has brought about exceptional improvement over the last few years. Standards in English have been high with GCSE results being well above average. In mathematics, the strong focus on improvement has meant that these standards have risen significantly and are now above average. Hence attainment is above average and students make good, and often outstanding, progress. The school’s excellent, accurate analysis shows that this momentum is due to continue. Results at A level show that students in the sixth form are well prepared for their next phase of education, including university, or for work.”
