Experience

  • A good / outstanding teacher
  • At least 2 years successful teaching experience
  • Experience of working with SEND and G&T pupils
  • Experience of interventions on strategies that have accelerated progress for pupils with a SEN
  • Experience of promoting positive relationships with families

Qualifications

  • Qualified teacher Status
  • Bachelor of Education or PGCE

Knowledge & Understanding

  • Knowledge of statutory SEND requirements and developments within SEND
  • An understanding of the importance of developing partnerships with parents
  • An understanding of the importance of community links
  • Secure understanding of how to use data to identify where additional support is needed
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation - particularly the revised SEN code of practice, equal opportunities and disability discrimination legislation and how these apply to students with statements /0-25 EHC plans as well as those without
  • Knowledge of the range and type of interventions available and be able to apply these appropriate in the context of the school's resources and the individual child

Faringdon Junior School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational primary situated in Faringdon, Oxfordshire. It is part of the Faringdon Academy of Schools multi-academy trust, which supports seven other schools in the UK, including two other local schools: Faringdon Infant School and Faringdon Community College. Faringdon Junior will provide 250 places for pupils aged 7-11 when fully subscribed.

An academy converter, Faringdon newly opened as an academy in April 2012.

Faringdon operates according to the belief that “together, we change futures”. It encourages staff members to be energetic, tenacious, courageous and ambitious for all children. The school wants to “let the children illuminate the room”, encouraging them to persevere, challenge themselves, work out how to advance their own learning and reflect on their progress in order to take their next steps. 

The school runs a selection of clubs and activities for students, including sports and photography groups.
