We are seeking to appoint a creative, highly motivated and inspiring practitioner who will be instrumental in making a difference to our students’ education.

As the SENCO you will have responsibility for leading, developing and managing a high standard of provision for learners with SEND; ensuring that standards of attainment and achievement are high and SEND students make accelerated and sustained progress. This will include developing and implementing strategies to ensure that all students, including those with special educational needs, medical needs, difficulties or disabilities have access to the full range of curriculum provision and educational resources. In addition, you will be responsible for leading a team of support staff, managing and maintaining the school’s SEND register and ensuring that the legal and statutory requirements are met for students with SEND. You will also contribute to in-service training for teachers and support staff, monitor and evaluate SEND provision and ensure that strategies are adopted to ensure high quality teaching and learning.

Oaks Park High School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school which opened in September 2001. The school moved to 10 forms of entry in September 2015 and recently opened additional facilities to meet the increase in student numbers.

The key elements of this post will be:

  • Coordination of all aspects of Learning Support.
  • Responsibility for Looked After Children.
  • Development of our Visually Impaired Provision.
  • Managing a team of support staff.
  • Carrying out referral procedures to the Local Authority to request High Needs funding and/or an Education Health and Care Plan.
  • Liaising with the Exams Officer to coordinate access arrangements for exams at KS3,4 &5
