An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Outstanding team at Reddish Hall School and take the lead role in our SEN department. The role, which has become available due to the continued growth of the school, will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to shape SEN policy and provision within the school and have a direct impact on the education and progress of the pupils we work with.   

For September 2018, we are looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced SENCo to work with pupils from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4 in our outstanding SEMH school. The role will involve working with pupils 1:1 or in small groups to deliver targeted intervention according to IEP’s and programmes developed by other professionals, such as speech and language therapists and educational psychologists.  Our SENCo will be expected to guide and direct other members of the staff team.

Experience of overcoming barriers to learning, including ASC, ADHD, dyslexia, Tourette’s, dyspraxia, FASD and sensory processing disorder will be used to support other staff to assist pupils to make progress academically, socially and emotionally.

The role will also involve contributing towards annual reviews, assisting with the relevant paperwork and informing and working with other professionals as to the needs and progress of pupils.  Our SENCo will liaise with educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and other professionals in delivering intervention programmes and be able to thoroughly feedback on progress made. They will also assess and monitor the progress of pupils with whom they are working using the systems in place. The SENCo will also contribute to the whole school ethos and being involved in the wider school community.

Reddish Hall School is a co-educational school catering for pupils aged 5-18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour- all of our young people have an Education Health Care Plan. The school accepts pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs, though they may face additional challenges and diagnoses including ADHD, Asperger’s, SpLD, MLD, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome or a variety of other conditions. Additionally, many of our pupils have serious social issues and very difficult home lives resulting in complex emotional difficulties.

All pupils attending Reddish Hall School have individual needs that have proved too complex to be addressed within a mainstream setting. The school provides effective support and a suitably differentiated curriculum, enabling them to progress and succeed to the best of their ability.
