Job overview

We are seeking a SENCo from April 2022 to support pupils with SEN needs.  Ideally the successful candidate will be a full-time employee teaching a subject at KS3/4 level, on a reduced timetable that allows administrative time for the SENCo role.  An ability to teach Maths, English or Science at GCSE level would be an advantage. The successful candidate may be an external or an internal appointment and will be an exceptional, experienced qualified teacher who has an additional SEN qualification such as Level 7 SpLD or equivalent that allows exam access assessment.

There is a SENCo who oversees the support for pupils in EYFS and KS1 and can advise on pupils in Year 3.

Belmont School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  The successful applicant is expected to be committed to their responsibilities for safeguarding children.  Rigorous pre-appointment checks will be undertaken including telephone conversations with referees.

Belmont School is an independent day, flexi and weekly boarding school for boys and girls from Early Years to GCSE.  Situated between Dorking and Guildford in the Surrey Hills, Belmont enjoys a 65-acre rural site enabling pupils to enjoy a vibrant, creative and wholesome school environment.

The School comprises the Early Years (Pre-Reception and Reception), Prep School (Years 1 to 6) and Senior School (Year 7 upwards).  Classes rarely exceed 16 pupils in the Prep School and 20 in the Senior School.

The school day runs from 8.00am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday with weekly or flexible boarding available from Sunday evening to Friday evening.  All staff are required to undertake supervisory duties during the school day, and to run one extra-curricular activity after school until 5.45pm every week.

Candidates should visit the school’s website www.belmont-school.org
