Job overview

Achieve ambitious goals, live life to the full

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-driven, flexible and experienced teacher to take over the role of SENCO and work as part of the education leaders’ team. This is an exciting opportunity for you to lead the school’s annual review process, engage in close liaison with a wide range of stakeholders, drive personalised provision for pupils and students, work with the examinations officer on access arrangements and plan personalised interventions through target setting across the whole school.

You will have a commitment to developing outstanding practice and the desire and drive to improve educational outcomes and life chances for our very special pupils and students.

Experience of working within a SEN setting is desirable, but not essential.

St Dominic’s School, rated “Good” by Ofsted, is a weekly boarding and day school catering for up to 110 pupils and students between the ages of 7 and 19 who have a range of academic abilities and with complex special needs including ASD and speech and language communication difficulties.

St Dominic's offers a truly multi-disciplinary approach, which welcomes and celebrates difference and individuality. Teachers work collaboratively with therapists and care staff to enhance the learning process and provide an exciting waking day curriculum. Staff work together to provide a blended approach to therapeutic and educational input, contextually, both within individual lessons and across the school as a whole.
