Job overview

Come join our thriving 2-19 all-through college on its journey towards excellence!

Our two-form entry primary phase opened in September 2019 and we have now completed our brand new state-of-the-art development on the secondary site. New facilities include a three-storey teaching block containing 22 classrooms and SEND hub, a fully refurbished Post 16 Learning Centre and a floodlit all-weather sports pitch to complement our already extensive sporting facilities.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and reliable SENCO to lead the Learners with Additional Needs Team otherwise known as the Hub.

We are seeking to appoint a SENCo who has experience of providing the highest quality of education, care and preparation for adulthood for all students in the school, particularly those accessing the Hub provision. All students no matter what their backgrounds, needs or abilities have the right to access a full curriculum.

This is a key position within the college and you will be responsible for leading a committed team of staff and be responsible for taking a strategic role in the development of future SEND provision within the college. You will also support the college in its drive for excellence and continuous improvement where removing barriers to learning and supporting student’s achievement is at the heart of everything we do.

The ideal candidate would hold the National SENCo qualification and have experience of leading on Access Arrangements. You will work closely with the Vice Principal for Vulnerable Learners, Assistant SENCo and the Hub team. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all statutory duties regarding SEND are met and ensure the effective co-ordination and identification of need and appropriate interventions are put in place. The role will also involve monitoring and evaluating the impact of interventions for all students requiring additional support, as well as teaching small groups of students key skills, for example in numeracy and literacy.

The key focus of the Hub department is to ensure that every SEND student makes progress in all areas of their school life. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying professional development of teaching staff, ensuring we continue to strive for excellent quality first teaching enabling all students to access the curriculum.

As a valued member of our team at Hailsham Community College Academy Trust we can offer you:

·        An excellent and highly supportive Senior Leadership Team / Middle Leadership Team and pastoral team

·        An excellent commitment to your continued professional development at whatever career stage you’re at!

  • An excellent school which is committed to consistency of student experience and sustained improvement
  • The opportunity to join our Corporate Membership to Benenden Health Care and Cycle to Work Scheme

If you have the motivation and drive for excellence and want to be a part of an enthusiastic, dedicated and well-resourced team, committed to ensuring that all students make the best possible progress in an ambitious school with the desire to be ‘excellent’, we would be pleased to receive an application from you.
