Job overview

We’re Co-op Academy Brierley – a brand new special school in Leeds (LS9) and we’re looking to appoint a SEND HLTA who will take responsibility for agreed learning activities and who will develop and implement effective interventions, enabling our young people to achieve their potential.

Our HLTA will complement the work of Classroom Teachers and take responsibility for agreed learning activities. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning for pupils along with monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting on achievement, development and progress.

Learning activities may include working in partnership with parents/carers and other agencies to achieve learning objectives, advising and assisting families to effectively manage behaviours that impact on learning and progress. This may take place in a variety of locations including school, community and home settings.

In addition, our HLTA will contribute to EHCP’s and other multi-agency plans, observing our young people to assess needs and contribute to target setting, progression and tracking, whilst demonstrating specialist and detailed knowledge that supports effective teaching and removes barriers to learning. This is a truly rewarding role which offers opportunities to make a real difference to the lives of young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

So if you have successful experience of working with young people with SEND and are committed to creating opportunities that enable young people to thrive, then we’d be delighted to hear from you.

The opening of Co-op Academy Brierley will be delivered by a key team of incredibly talented individuals from across our Trust and partner organisations. It will initially be based in a brand new, purpose-built extension at our Co-op Academy Nightingale site (LS9) from September 2023, before moving to newly built, state of the art premises on Cross Green Lane (LS9). This new facility will provide an outstanding working and learning environment for our colleagues and young people and will sit within a wider site undergoing significant redevelopment by Leeds City Council.

As a colleague at Co-op Academies Trust, you’ll work within a diverse learning community, striving to deliver an outstanding working and learning experience for all. You will be joining a supportive, committed and passionate team who work hard to ensure that everyone in our Trust can achieve their potential. And of course, you’ll do all this whilst capturing the spirit of our vision and values and whilst role-modelling exceptional professional behaviours.
