We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and committed SEND Learning Support Manager to play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities across our secondary school.
Working closely with the SENCO, teaching staff, learning support assistants, students, families and external professionals, you will help ensure that pupils with SEND receive high-quality, well-coordinated support that enables them to participate fully in school life and achieve their potential.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND practitioner or learning support professional who is ready to take on greater responsibility within a busy and supportive secondary school environment.
The role
The SEND Learning Support Manager will support the effective day-to-day operation of the school’s SEND provision. Responsibilities will include:
Coordinating and overseeing the deployment and day-to-day work of Learning Support Assistants and other support staff.
Working with the SENCO to identify, plan and review appropriate support and interventions for students with SEND.
Supporting the implementation and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), student support plans and personalised provision.
Monitoring students’ progress, attendance, engagement and wellbeing, helping to identify where additional support may be required.
Liaising with teachers to promote effective classroom strategies and inclusive practice.
Building positive relationships with students and providing practical, pastoral and academic support where appropriate.
Communicating effectively with parents and carers and contributing to review meetings.
Liaising with external agencies and professionals involved in supporting individual students.
Coordinating targeted interventions and evaluating their impact.
Maintaining accurate SEND records and contributing to statutory and school-based documentation.
Supporting transition arrangements for students joining the school, moving between key stages or preparing for post-16 education.
Contributing to the development of an inclusive school culture in which students with SEND are supported to become confident, independent learners.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience of working with children or young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, ideally within a secondary school setting.
Has a strong understanding of inclusive education and the barriers that students with SEND may experience.
Is able to build positive and respectful relationships with young people, including those who may have complex needs.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can work effectively with staff, families and outside agencies.
Is highly organised and able to manage competing priorities.
Can use information and data effectively to monitor provision and student progress.
Has experience of coordinating or supervising other staff, or has the potential to do so successfully.
Is calm, resilient, solution-focused and able to exercise sound professional judgement.
Is committed to safeguarding, equality of opportunity and improving outcomes for all students.
Experience of working with EHCPs, annual reviews, SEND interventions and multi-agency professionals would be an advantage.
We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
