The Role - SEND Teacher:

Are you a visionary educator who believes that every child deserves a chance to succeed, regardless of their starting point? At Impact North West Schools, we don't just teach—we transform lives. We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher for Key Stages 3 and 4 who can bridge the gap between academic progress and emotional resilience.

Key Responsibilities - SEND Teacher:

Curriculum Development and Implementation

  • Design and implement a curriculum that promotes literacy, creativity, and academic progress for all students.

  • Ensure the curriculum is well-planned, sequenced, and relevant to the needs of Impact North West Schools students.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum, making adjustments as necessary to improve student outcomes.

  • Knowledge across Functional Skills English & Maths and Kings Trust

Teaching and Learning

  • To consistently plan, prepare and deliver high quality, engaging interventions for all learners.

  • To support students whilst learning to ensure barriers to learning are diminished.

  • Monitor and assess student progress, using data to inform teaching strategies and interventions.

  • To access, report and record all relevant data onto Arbor.

  • Embed literacy skills across the curriculum, developing resources as needed.

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment, using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches.

  • Set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds and abilities.

Collaboration and Pastoral Support

  • Work collaboratively with pastoral teams to address barriers to learning and promote emotional resilience.

  • Organise enrichment activities to inspire students and foster a love of learning.

Leadership and Management

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the school staff, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to teaching and learning.

  • Contribute to the school's self-evaluation and development planning processes, with a focus on the effectiveness of the curriculum.

  • Ensure that all health and safety protocols are adhered to.

  • To follow our safeguarding policy and ensure all learners are safe at all times.

What We Are Looking For - SEND Teacher:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (Desirable).

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant subject area.

  • Proven experience teaching KS3 and KS4, preferably within an SEMH, AP, or SEND setting - Functional Skills English & Maths, Kings Trust

  • Evidence of further professional development in SEND, Trauma-Informed Practice, or Mental Health (Desirable).

Knowledge & Skills

  • Data Savvy: Proficiency in using Arbor (or similar MIS) to track progress and inform interventions.

  • Literacy Champion: A proven ability to embed literacy across a diverse curriculum.

  • Adaptability: The skill to pivot lesson plans in real-time based on the emotional regulation of the group.

  • Safeguarding Expert: Deep understanding of KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education) and its application in a high-needs environment.
