Salary: £26,228 - £27,593 | Full Time (37.5 hours/week)

 

Purpose of the Role

To support teaching and learning by assisting teachers in delivering education and care to pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. The Teaching Assistant will embody the EPIC values and adhere strictly to the Staff Code of Conduct to create a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment that promotes pupil wellbeing and achievement.

The school provides specialist education which supports the educational needs of young people aged 8 – 19 with moderate to severe learning difficulties, complex needs and a range of associated social, emotional, interaction and sensory difficulties.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentoring, supporting and inspiring learners by supporting them with curriculum-based learning in the classroom, on home tuition and outreach and through outdoor activities

  • Assist with the preparation of learning material and contributing to the delivery of learning objectives with a strong focus on behavioural management

  • Daily reports on learners’ progress and barriers to learning

  • Interaction with parents/care givers on a regular basis

 

Requirements:

  • A committed and passionate view of students with SEND

  • At least two years’ experience minimum of working in a SEND environment or similar unit/provision

  • A level 3 TA qualification is advantageous

About Liverpool Progressive School

The school is set up with four distinct areas; Oak for students with severe learning difficulties and ASD (many of whom are non-verbal). Elm for students with moderate learning and behavioural difficulties specifically, Down Syndrome, ADHD, ASD etc.

Acorn is for pupils who are in-between the Oak and Elm curriculum who can display more challenging behaviours and have associated learning needs including ASD and ADHD. Then, lastly, Beech for pupils who are working towards college transition and have more complex social and emotional difficulties linked to past trauma and their diagnosis.

We are committed to each and every one of our pupils, providing specialist support tailored to each individual’s unique needs and helping all pupils to achieve their full potential. Young people often come to our school with negative perceptions of the education system, having experienced rejection, often repeatedly. We are dedicated to turning their experience of learning into a positive one.
