Bayards Hill Primary School is an academy in Oxford for children aged 4-11. A slightly larger than average primary, Bayards Hill also has a larger than average proportion of pupils from disadvantaged and minority ethnic backgrounds.

In 2013, the school became part of Cheney School Academy Trust, along with a local secondary, Cheney School. The two schools work together closely, with Bayards Hill acting as a “feeder school” for its partner.

Bayards Hill has undergone extensive building work over the past few years, in order to provide pupils and staff with modern facilities.

Values and vision

The primary aim of the school is to provide a safe environment for pupils, as well as to foster individual responsibility and creativity. Owing to the school’s diverse intake, tolerance of other beliefs and faiths is of paramount importance to Bayards Hill.

Teachers actively reward pupils whose behaviour is exemplary. The school works hard to ensure attendance, punctuality and student participation remain high.

Ofsted report

“Most pupils now behave well in lessons, showing a lively keenness to learn, particularly at Key Stage 1. Pupils listen well and answer questions enthusiastically and most follow the teachers’ instructions quickly, especially in Key Stage 1.”
