Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? Do you have experience supporting pupils with complex learning needs such as ASD and ADHD? If so, we want to hear from you!

At Shaftesbury Park Primary School, we are proud of our inclusive ethos and commitment to nurturing every child to thrive. We are currently seeking a compassionate, skilled and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, within an Early Years setting. The role involves providing tailored learning support, promoting emotional regulation, and assisting with personal care to ensure every child can access the curriculum and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Support children with Autism and SEMH needs on a one-to-one and small group basis

·         Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour support plans, and care plans

·         Support children’s communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence

·         Provide personal care where required, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene, in line with dignity and safeguarding procedures

·         Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider professionals to support learning and development

·         Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to support emotional wellbeing

·         Support learning through play in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework

·         Observe, record, and report on children’s progress and needs

·         Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

·         Support children during transitions and daily routines

·         Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality policies at all times

In return, we offer:

·         A supportive and inspiring staff team.

·         High-quality professional development and SEND training.

·         A chance to be part of a school that champions inclusion and wellbeing.

·         A role where your work has genuine impact — every single day.

Come and be part of a school that puts children’s emotional and educational needs at the heart of everything we do. This is more than just a job — it’s an opportunity to truly change lives.
