Millais is an Outstanding (Ofsted 2014) 11-16 girls’ comprehensive in which the students are eager to learn and expect to be challenged in all areas of the curriculum.

We require a dynamic and inspirational SENDCO & Leader of Specialist Intervention, who is aspiring to Senior Leadership and has the qualities, skills and experience to lead our highly successful SEND team and teaching & learning across the curriculum. The role will offer significant leadership development opportunities within the school and across our Teaching School Alliance.

Within your team there will be a Deputy SENDCO who will also assist you in the leadership of the specialist intervention across the school, specialist teachers and a large team of highly skilled learning support assistants.

As the SENDCO working with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will play a key role in reviewing and evaluating intervention strategies and SEND systems and will lead on the development of a clear vision and associated action plan for the future direction of our work in this area

The successful candidate will join a strong team of middle leaders who work closely with the Headteacher and the SLT on all curriculum development. Together with the middle and senior leaders, you will oversee the effective implementation of all intervention strategies to support SEND students across the whole school.

This is an exciting and broad ranging role which is central to the future success of the school as we strive for excellence in all areas of work. We believe it is an excellent opportunity for a successful and experienced middle leader who is keen to broaden their experience and expertise at a whole school level, in readiness for progression to a senior leadership position in the future.

The successful applicant will

• be an outstanding teacher

• have the ability to develop a team that ‘leads’ the field in innovative practice and maximises achievement for all

• have a passion for SEND and a commitment to the enhancement of the learning experience

• have a track record of achieving excellent results based on exceptional student progress

• have the potential to play a leading role in school to school support and professional learning across a network of schools

The role requires the successful candidates to be able to stimulate the interest and curiosity of the students who are eager to learn and expect to be challenged in all areas of the curriculum.

In return we will offer you the opportunity to develop your leadership potential working with highly motivated students and colleagues in a supportive and stimulating professional environment. If you would relish the challenge then we would welcome your application.
