SENDCo

MPS/UPS & SEN Allowance (R&R Allowance available for exceptional candidates)

Thank you for expressing an interest in the post of SENDCo.

Copthall School is led by a decisive leader having been awarded ‘TES Headteacher of the Year Award 2020’ and an MBE in the 2021 New Year’s Honours list for Services to Education. Our high quality teaching and learning leads to outstanding results as does the outstanding pastoral care provided for our students.

Copthall enters another exciting journey as we emerge from the pandemic stronger and resilient ensuring that all our students receive ‘An Excellent Education’ with no child left behind.

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a SENDCo to join our school for Easter or September 2023 and make a huge contribution to transforming the learning and lives of our students.  This pivotal role will include leading, developing and supporting effective practice for students with SEND.  The SENDCo will lead a team of dedicated staff in establishing and implementing a range of support and interventions for our SEND students across the school to ensure each learner achieves her full potential.

To be successful you need to be a qualified teacher with experience of SEND related responsibilities, policy and practice. The successful candidate will be passionate about inclusion, a champion for all students with SEND and an advocate for some of our most vulnerable students. You should be confident with using data to evaluate the impact of support and interventions. We would welcome applications from either the secondary or primary sector.  Whether you are at the start of your SENDCo career or have a wealth of experience, we are interested in talking with you about how you will help us to create outstanding inclusive provision and life-changing opportunities and outcomes for our students.

This is a wonderfully rewarding role where the individual’s moral purpose is intertwined with the student’s desire to do well, once given the right support.

Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange this.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

·        have QTS

·        knowledge of the National Curriculum for GCSE and A Level

·        be an innovative and reflective practitioner

·        have the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of pupils

·        have an interest in and commitment to working with, supporting the development of, and safeguarding children

and in return we offer candidates:

·        support, mentoring and training appropriate to the post

  • a forward looking, hardworking and enthusiastic team of staff with the desire and skills to improve outcomes
  • the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the school, its students and families
  • benefits from our Employee Assistance Programme/Well-being package
