Job overview

Trinity Academy Grammar

SENDCo

Leadership L1 – L8 (£49,781 – £59,167)

Trinity Academy Grammar is an ambitious and inclusive 11-16 school that has had a plethora of successes.  In February 2023 Ofsted graded the academy as good with outstanding features in leadership and personal development.  This followed being awarded the World Class School mark in 2021.  These transformational changes mean that it is an exciting time to join the academy, we are incredibly proud of our successes, and we are looking for the best people to work alongside our already committed team to continue our journey.

The Academy continues to be oversubscribed (with a waiting list).  At the start of the new academic year, we will have over 1,000 students on roll; having grown this number from 650 when we first started since becoming part of the Trinity Multi-Academy Trust.

In 2018/2019, the results we achieved placed us within the top 1% of the most improved schools in the country, making us one of the highest-performing schools for progress in the Calderdale local authority.  Aspirations and ambitions are high; however, the school is determined not to rest on its laurels and is continually striving for ways to better serve the students.

We are seeking to appoint a talented individual to join us as a SENDCo with responsibility for SEND.  Trinity Academy Grammar is an inclusive academy where every student is known, valued, understood and has the opportunity to shine.

This role is suitable for a fully qualified SENDCo or someone who is willing to complete the qualification within three years of appointment and involves overseeing the SEND provision across the academy, ensuring students with SEND reach their full potential.  You will be passionate about ensuring equality of opportunity for any child with SEND, removing any barriers to progress and wellbeing and ensuring that all students have the support to achieve their dreams.

What can we offer you?

  • An opportunity to be involved in the transformation of Trinity Academy Grammar
  • Full support from a dedicated team of senior leaders and a large pastoral team
  • A first-class behaviour for learning system
  • Excellent teaching resources
  • Career progression and cross-trust working
  • An excellent CPD package for all staff, including a further comprehensive programme of professional development provided through the Trinity Institute of Education and West Yorkshire Maths Hub
  • A range of staff benefits, including Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work scheme, Electric Car scheme and reduced cost health cover

Start Date: September 2025, or to be agreed

Closing Date: 9am, 31 March 2025

Interviews: To be confirmed

Trinity Multi Academy Trust were first approached to work with the then Sowerby Bridge High School, when it had been graded as inadequate by Ofsted and had been ranked in the bottom 15% of all schools nationally.

In September 2021 we adopted the new name of Trinity Academy Grammar to better communicate our identity, high standards and aspirations for our students. We chose a name which truly reflects our grammar school heritage, and to better showcase our core values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility

Now, Trinity Academy Grammar is one of the most improved schools in the country, receiving an Ofsted grading of Good with Outstanding in Leadership and Personal Development in February 2023.

We also proudly hold the World Class Schools Quality Mark award. Our sole purpose is for all students to feel known, valued and understood and to leave the Academy equipped for the next stages of their lives. Our passionate and committed staff work tirelessly to ensure the young people of Trinity Academy Grammar, receive only the very best.

We have invested significantly in the professional development of our staff, offering bespoke CPD programmes for teaching and support staff at all stages of their career. These include a new staff induction programme, which runs throughout the first term for any staff joining the academy, including 10-Minute Tip coaches for the duration of the programme. TAG greatly values its Early Career Teachers (ECTs), who also receive regular mentor support as well as opportunities to engage in the latest education research.

Every single one of our ECTs reported that they experienced good support and guidance during their programme, which had a direct positive impact on their practice. The teaching and learning team lead regular bespoke CPD, including weekly practice, for all teaching staff, teaching assistants, learning mentors and curriculum tutors, all of which is underpinned by the latest educational research.

In addition to this, curriculum and subject-focused CPD is led regularly throughout the term by curriculum leaders. All leaders, curricular and pastoral, receive additional weekly leadership development by line managers and through regular group CPD sessions led by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Everything is designed to attract and retain the very best people who will, in turn, create the best outcomes for our students, in order that they leave us feeling known, valued and understood.
