Purpose of the Role

To lead and coordinate the provision for pupils with SEND, ensuring that all pupils receive personalised, high-quality support that enables them to achieve their potential.

About Great Oaks 

Great Oaks College is a specialist school for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. 

We offer a nurturing environment with small classes and personalised support, helping students who’ve faced challenges in mainstream education succeed.

Our mission is to build resilience, self-confidence, and a love for learning, while preparing students for academic success and life beyond school. 

We cater to students aged 11 to 19, helping them discover their strengths, overcome challenges, and develop skills for future success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification, assessment, and monitoring of pupils with SEND.

  • Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans and Education, Health and Care Plans

  • Ensure statutory compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and other relevant legislation.

  • Coordinate and deliver training for staff on SEND strategies, differentiation, and inclusive teaching.

  • Monitor the progress and wellbeing of pupils with SEND and adapt provision accordingly.

Requirements:

  • QTS 

  • SENDCO accreditation (or willingness to undertake it)

  • Proven experience coordinating SEND provision in a complex educational setting.

  • Deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, statutory requirements, and inclusive education

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and support staff in delivering high-quality SEND provision, modelling the Staff Code of Conduct

  • Ability to develop and implement effective SEND strategies and monitor impact.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with staff, pupils, parents, and external professionals.
