Job overview

We are an Ofsted Good-rated, 11–18 academy with a thriving sixth form and a campus undergoing a transformation based in the friendly South Yorkshire town of Doncaster.

We are proud to say that our recent OFSTED inspection in 2024 cited that the school is a 'Good' school, identifying how the school is an 'inclusive school' where 'pupils of every background are provided with the opportunities they need to be successful'. We value our staff highly and have established a truly supportive environment where staff training and wellbeing are at the heart of all we do. We are focused on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning, and increased attainment, achievement and social and emotional development of our pupils is key so that they can navigate an ever-changing world with confidence and resilience.

We are proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award and to have received the IQM Award, recommended as a Centre of Excellence for Inclusion, which highlights our commitment to inclusion. We have also recently achieved our Eco Schools Award, along with our Leading the Way Award for meeting all eight Gatsby Benchmarks to support employability for our students.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award, with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified SENDCo or an aspiring professional willing to achieve the National SENCO Award. This is a key leadership role where you will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of our students, enhancing their life chances, and ensuring they thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

You will need the knowledge and drive to support our SEND pupils by ensuring needs are identified, that staff are equipped to support those needs and that barriers are removed.

As the SENDCo, you will lead an inclusion team at the centre of the school. At Outwood Academy Danum, we pride ourselves on ensuring barriers to learning are overcome and offer opportunities for our students to experience success and improve life chances. In this role, you will be a senior member of staff delivering quality, adaptive teaching to a mixed cohort of students.

What We Offer:

  • The opportunity to be part of a vibrant academy at a pivotal stage in its development that values pride, kindness and resilience.
  • A supportive and ambitious team committed to continuous improvement.
  • A chance to transform the life chances of young people in our care.

What We're Looking For:

  • A qualified SENDCo or someone eager to achieve the National SENCO Award.
  • A dedicated and ambitious professional with a passion for inclusion and student success.
  • Someone ready to add value both academically and through enriching the wider school community.
  • An inspirational leader who cares deeply about students' success and wellbeing.

If you're ready to make a real impact and help shape the future of our academy, we would love to hear from you.

Your team will consist of Teaching Assistants, admin and additional Inclusion staff. Our structures work under a 'Deeps' model in which Deep Support works with Deep Learning and Deep Experience to support the learning and progress of all students. This role will lend itself to enabling you to feel part of the Outwood family and work with the amazing young people in our setting. Needless to say, you will be someone who is driven, proactive, and strategic. If this describes you, then you are just what we are looking for. As a member of the Outwood family, you will experience a number of opportunities to work with stakeholders across the education industry and develop your SEND knowledge through our Trust networking opportunities. Your work environment will be welcoming, and you will have access to all the appropriate resources needed for the role.
