Job overview

Hawley Place School is keen to appoint a Full Time SENDCo from September 2016. The successful candidate should be a well-qualified graduate, in possession of a teaching qualification.

The Learning Enrichment Department is an intrinsic part of the school, and its importance is firmly embedded within the classroom - in terms of inclusive best endeavours - as well as in our whole school ethos and values. Within the School there are a number of pupils who receive specialist support in class, via a study skills group and one to one assistance. Our school is fully inclusive and students feel nurtured and supported in their work. We have a dedicated Learning Enrichment provision and facilities, as well as further dedicated rooms in which to implement support sessions.

The Learning Enrichment Department works very closely with all departments in the School from the Nursery through to Key Stage 4. We also have dedicated Gifted and Talented coordinators in the Prep and Senior Schools with whom the SENDCo will directly liaise. Within a broad curriculum in the Senior School, we are looking for an ambitious, dynamic leader to further develop the Learning Enrichment Department as a key strength of the school. Hawley Place is truly a family school with a distinct and unique ethos. Our core values embrace inclusivity and are key to our success: we nurture the whole child.

As part of the Minerva Group of Schools, Hawley Place is very well supported through the group’s “Inspiring Learning” Programme which has the professional development of staff as one of its key objectives. Hawley Place is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and will expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check: a thorough induction programme is provided.

If you are passionate about learning enrichment and being a part of our dedicated team, we would like to hear from you. In return we offer a committed School Staff and wonderful school community, exciting opportunities for growth, a competitive salary and a range of benefits.

Please submit all completed application forms via email recruitment@minervaeducation.co.uk

Deadline for application is Friday 19th February 2016.
Interviews will be held week beginning 22nd February 2016.

Hawley Place represents our vision of a good family school where children can be encouraged, stimulated and supported. Their skills and talents will be recognized and nurtured whatever they are. Courtesy, kindness and consideration (the “3C’s”) are the cornerstones of our ethos, helping us to create the right atmosphere for your child’s social and academic development.

The three sections of the school – Nursery, Junior and Senior- offer opportunities for continuity of education for boys from 2-11 and for girls from 2-16 crossing several important and different Key Stages. In the Nursery, experienced and well qualified staff help young children to settle into school life, develop their independence and build up a love of learning coupled with a natural inquisitiveness. By the age of 11 children are confident and very knowledgeable, having acquired a wide range of interests and skills, as well as an eagerness to continue learning and discovery. They are well prepared to move on happily and successfully to their secondary education. Our Senior School takes girls through their early teens in a single sex environment, encouraging excellence in all spheres of school life and giving a solid preparation for post sixteen studies.

A part of the Minerva group whose philosophy: “inspiring learning” means that each and every school will retain its own special identity, traditions and ethos and Minerva will consciously avoid making any school feel as if it is ‘run’ by Minerva. However, through our “Inspiring Learning” education improvement programme we believe that the education provision in the schools will improve, with our teachers working together to share best practice.
