We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, inspirational and enthusiastic candidate to effectively manage and lead the SEND provision across the school. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for managing the Inclusion team, the specialist teacher for SEND and teaching assistants. We are looking to appoint someone with experience of working with students with a range of additional needs and a knowledge of the SEND provision. You would ideally hold the National SENDCO qualification or be working towards completing the qualification.
Honley High School has a strong reputation locally for academic excellence. Historically students at Honley make “above average” progress compared with students of similar abilities in other schools and those with additional needs make very good progress here. In 2018 we recorded a progress 8 figure of +0.34 (provisional). Honley High School is rightly recognised for its friendly, inclusive, caring approach to the needs of young people. We are very proud of what we do here, proud of our record of student and staff success, and proud of the young people our students become over the time they spend with us. Over a number of years the achievement of our students has gained us recognition as being among the highest performing non-selective schools in Kirklees. We have over 1200 students and work hard to ensure that we get to know all of them as individuals, so we are able to support them through this crucial time in their lives.
Honley is within easy reach of Leeds, Sheffield and Huddersfield.
The successful candidate can expect:
- A supportive and friendly team aiming for excellence
- Motivated students who are eager to learn and engage in lessons
- The chance to work with teachers and middle leaders who are relentless in their drive to deliver the best learning experiences to their students
- A commitment to their further development through a well-structured CPD programme
This is an excellent opportunity for a forward thinking and ambitious teacher to become part of a successful team which values high standards of academic achievement whilst developing the knowledge, skills and qualities needed to help students thrive in life and work.
