Job overview

Meadowbrook College provides full and part-time education and support to children aged 5 to 16, who find mainstream school difficult.  We offer a broad range of preventative programmes and support to enable students to access education in order for them to enhance their life chances beyond the college.  At Meadowbrook we work hard to create an safe and compassionate environment where children and young people flourish. Do you have a passion for working with vulnerable children to ensure that they receive the education they deserve? If so this is a  unique opportunity to make a substantial contribution to further improving outcomes for a significant group of learners and to help to shape and develop our SEND provision across the College.  Our hope for our students is that they will re-engage with learning, be successful and achieve their goals.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated, skilled and resilient SENDCO with experience and/or a strong interest in supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties along with autism and ADHD. The ideal candidate will demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and the ability to teach effectively.

As a Teacher you will:

  • be a skilled practitioner in the classroom, with a proven background in supporting students with a variety of learning difficulties and needs
  • be experienced in working with secondary or primary  students at both a national curriculum and accreditation level.
  • be relentless in your approach to both engaging our students in their learning, and securing them the best academic outcomes
  • be highly motivated, with a passion for learning
  • have bags of enthusiasm, patience and perseverance

Why work at Meadowbrook College?

  • Meadowbrook College staff are both professional and resilient. There is a “can do” attitude that makes a real difference to the lives of our students; many of whom have become disengaged with education and lost the confidence to achieve their full potential
  • We offer a variety of opportunities for ongoing professional development for all staff
  • We are working in an ever-changing and expanding educational climate where the need for alternative provision solutions is increasing.  Our provision is always adapting and new opportunities are always evolving.

Located across four sites in Oxfordshire: Oxford, Banbury, Kidlington and Abingdon, we are an Alternative Provision (AP) Academy that provides full and part-time education and support to over 150 aged 5-16 students who are excluded from, or are finding it difficult to fully access, their mainstream schools.

We offer all our students another chance and provide a high quality, safe learning environment in which to help them develop the positive behaviours and skills which they can use to improve their life chances. We work hard to ensure our young people achieve the best outcomes by creating individual educational packages which meet their needs and equip them for their next destination.
