Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic SENDCO to join the leadership team of Litherland High, to maximise the progress of our SEND students and to develop the Special Educational Needs curriculum across the academy. The post is vitally important in ensuring that our curriculum intent is implemented effectively and experienced by all of our students.

This post represents an exciting opportunity for either a mainstream teacher with a passion for SEND education or an experienced SENDCO with aspirations for senior leadership. The specific roles, responsibilities and salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate should have the appropriate SEN qualifications, a good knowledge of the new SEND Reform, and a proven track record in raising the achievement and attainment of students. There will be some teaching involved in this position.

We are looking for a SENDCO who:

  • Has the ability to lead the strategic development of SEND policy and provision in line with current legislation.
  • Has the ability to lead, motivate and inspire the Learning Support team, working with teachers, support staff and external agencies.
  • Can continue to develop an exciting and challenging curriculum targeted at students who have difficulty accessing mainstream school.
  • Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to lead by example.
  • Can analyse and interpret data to establish tailored intervention strategies.

At Litherland High School, we believe in providing our students with excellent and exciting educational opportunities based on the core values of respect, a broad and balanced curriculum and high aspiration, where there is no cap on ambition building the skills for successful lives. We are proud to have achieved the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) with Centre of Excellence status for outstanding levels of inclusion and best practice. We are resolutely on our journey to provide an outstanding education for our students.

If you can inspire, encourage, achieve, enjoy working with young people, and are determined to make a real difference to the children you teach, then you could be the kind of teacher we are looking for.
