We seek to appoint from January 2023 a dynamic and enthusiastic full-time SENDCo.

As our SENDCo you will be expected to run the strategic development of the school's Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision and oversight of the day-to-day operation of that policy with the aim of raising SEN pupil achievement.

Saint Felix School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for children aged from 2 – 18, located close to the glorious seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Our aim is to develop well-rounded students with the skills and the personality to make a success of their lives during and after their school years.

Academic excellence is central to life at Saint Felix School and we encourage all pupils to aspire to the highest possible standards and to exceed their expectations. Our success is demonstrated by impressive examination results at GCSE and A Level. The vast majority of our leavers go on to Higher Education.

The school adopts a non-selective entry policy which seeks to provide an environment where all pupils will thrive academically. It emphasises continuity of education through to 16+. We believe in a holistic education that exposes pupils to a wide range of experiences and opportunities. We also aim to attract pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds.

We are looking for a well-qualified SENDCo to join us at Saint Felix.

The main responsibilities will be to;

  • Ensure that the school carries out its statutory responsibilities regarding all students with a Statement of Special Educational Needs.
  • Support all staff in understanding the needs of SEND pupils.
  • Support departmental developments of SEN provision.
  • Monitor progress towards targets for pupils with SEN.
  • Analyse and interpret relevant school, local and national data.
  • Liaise with staff, parents, external agencies and other schools to co-ordinate their contribution, provide maximum support and ensure continuity of provision.
  • Actively support the extra-curricular senior programme
  • Help to motivate and encourage our pupils to develop and reach their potential.

About Saint Felix School

Saint Felix, Southwold has been providing educational excellence for 120 years. A co-educational independent school for boarders and day pupils from the ages of 2 to 18.

Boarding at Saint Felix caters for full, weekly and flexi-boarders between the ages of 9-18 in three boarding houses situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Suffolk coast.

It offers an extensive curriculum with over 40 enrichment activities including the arts, drama, Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, music, sport and visual arts. Academic standards are high: 2015 saw a 100% pass rate at A Level, and the school has won national awards for Mathematics and Photography.
