Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking school with a proven reputation for innovation and excellence. We are looking for a highly capable and experienced Senior Administrator, with excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise conflicting demands to achieve positive outcomes and meet deadlines. The successful candidate will have experience in a customer-focused role, with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to maintain high standards, as well as attention to detail, in a fast paced and busy working environment.

This new position will work with a team of highly capable administrative staff, to carry out a range of tasks to support the smooth running of the school and provide administrative support to senior teaching staff. You will join our Cover Manager, reporting to the Deputy Headmaster. Your main responsibilities will include database management, parent communications and Faculty administrative support.

Colston’s is a thriving co-educational day school on the outskirts of Bristol, easily accessible from the motorway network and with approximately 800 students aged from 3 to 18. The Upper School occupies a glorious thirty acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site.

We are proud of our high academic standards and our innovative approach to the development of teaching and learning across the school and we value the range of opportunities we provide for our pupils outside the classroom. In our latest ISI report the school was judged excellent in all areas; raw examination results are consistently good and value-add scores are very high.

The hours for this role will be 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, including half an hour unpaid lunch break. The role is term time only (35 weeks including INSET), with 2 additional  weeks worked flexibly during the school holidays. There is some flexibility with start and finish times for this position, which may be discussed at interview.

You will receive a salary of between £20,716 to £22,423 per annum, (NJC pay scale point 18 to 22, £25,419 to £27,514 FTE), depending on skills, experience and qualifications, and including a holiday allowance based on 25 days plus 8 bank holidays per annum for full time hours. Other benefits include lunch during term time, free parking on site, a defined contribution pension scheme and discount on school fees in accordance with the staff remission policy.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The safeguarding responsibilities of the post include:

- To promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible or come into contact with;

- To be supportive of and committed to the School’s policies on Child Protection;

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
