Senior Administrator (Lower School)

We are looking for a dynamic and highly capable Senior Administrator, to lead our Lower School administration team and ensure the successful running of a busy school office. This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced candidate to provide an excellent level of PA support to the Head of Lower School, and utilise high level administrative skills across the wider school.

As part of a team with a supportive and collaborative approach, the Senior Administrator will communicate effectively and professionally with pupils, staff and parents. They will take personal responsibility for managing their workload, being flexible in the face of changing demands within the role, and have an outstanding “can do” attitude. With responsibilities for preparing formal documents, handling confidential information and First Aid for pupils, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding and working knowledge of Confidentiality, GDPR and Safeguarding. Experience of working within a school is not essential, although any experience with young children would be an advantage.

Colston’s is a thriving co-educational day school on the outskirts of Bristol, easily accessible from the motorway network and with approximately 800 students aged from 3 to 18. The Upper School occupies a glorious thirty acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site. Colston’s Lower School, specialising in the care of our younger students, enjoys its own dedicated campus a short walk from the Upper School. The Lower School has undergone considerable investment in recent years; most recently a new EYFS Centre, costing £1.2 million and opened by HRH Princess Anne.

We are proud of our high academic standards and our innovative approach to the development of teaching and learning across the school and we value the range of opportunities we provide for our pupils outside the classroom. In our latest ISI report the school was judged excellent in all areas; raw examination results are consistently good, value-add scores are high and we have waiting lists in most year groups.

The hours for this role will be 37.5 hours per week, working 9:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, including half an hour unpaid lunch break, during school term time (35 weeks including INSET) plus 2 additional weeks worked flexibly during the school holidays. 

You will receive a salary of between £20,360 to £23,367 per annum, (NJC pay scale point 18 to 24, £24,982 to £28,672 FTE), depending on skills, experience and qualifications, and including a holiday allowance based on 25 days per year plus 8 bank holidays. Other benefits include lunch during term time, free parking on site, a defined contribution pension scheme and discount on school fees in accordance with the staff remission policy.
