Senior Art Technician

The Senior Art Technician will have a highly varied role assisting teaching staff and facilitating the needs of students through the management of workshops, studios, stores and or any other defined areas, including the equipment and facilities within them.

KEY DUTIES:

To support the delivery of all aspects of the academic programmes within the Art Department and oversee and manage the technical and materials resources.

Main Duties

• Supervising workshop activities undertaken by both staff and pupils;

• Providing technical guidance to both staff and pupils across the broad area of art as required;

• Overseeing groups of students working within the studios and /or workshops, with academic staff within the department, during lesson times or during co-curricular activities;

• Managing the storage of student work;

• Preparing works for exhibition both in department and around the school ensuring there is a continuity of display at all times;

• Printing and mounting of digital imaging;

• Supervising, demonstrating and guiding pupils individually and in groups in the preparation of materials as directed in a technical support context;

• Line managing additional Technicians within the Art department, if required in the future;

• Liaising with colleagues in the faculty and throughout the school;

• Attending departmental, faculty meetings and whole-school briefings, as required;

• Providing support to teaching staff within Art to facilitate student learning as required;

• Ordering materials and equipment and monitoring control of stock within the department;

• General administrative work within the department as directed.
