Senior Curriculum Manager – Mathematics 

Circa £45K (more for an exceptional candidate)

Location: Hackney Campus

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Senior Curriculum Manager (SCM) at Hackney Campus to be responsible for GCSE and Functional Skills Mathematics. Reporting to the Group Curriculum Director for Science & Mathematics, the SCMs are second tier managers within our Directorate structure. The core purpose of a SCMs is to drive up standards and ensure an excellent student experience. You will have teaching responsibilities and will be expected to carry out line-management duties and classroom observations. 

The right candidate must have significant teaching experience of GCSE and Functional Skills mathematics. A track record of achieving good results, particularly high GCSE grades. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and strong work ethic. Part of the job requires to closely monitor and support students at risk to achieve or exceed their potential and plan a high quality provision for GCSE and Functional Skills. To manage an established maths team and liaise with vocational curriculum areas to improve outcomes for learners.  

Candidates must also have experience of leading and managing GCSE and Functional Skills mathematics in post 16 education and have a track record of making sustained improvements. You will need to have a clear understanding of curriculum changes to drive quality and performance.

New City College was created by the merger of Tower Hamlets College and Hackney Community College in August 2016. Redbridge College merged into the group in April 2017. The group merged in August 2018 with Epping Forest College, based in Loughton, Essex.
