Job overview

Thorngrove  School is a co-educational day school for pupils from the age of two and a half to thirteen. Located on the Hampshire/Berkshire border, Thorngrove is a thriving prep school of around 220 pupils where the family ethos and access to the outdoor surroundings create a unique sense of community.

Following the appointment of the current post holder, Nick Graham, to the headship of the school, Thorngrove is now looking for his successor as Senior Deputy Head. The past three post holders have moved on to headships within five years.  Thorngrove is now transitioning into an exciting new phase of its history with investment in the pupil's development, the infrastructure of the School and the whole community.

The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to lead and manage teams and people in addition to overseeing the pastoral development of the pupils.

The Senior Deputy Head reports directly to the Headmaster and is responsible for the successful day to day running of the school. It is the most senior position in the school after the Headmaster.

We are seeking to recruit an inspirational and dynamic Senior Deputy Head with a proven track record of leadership to join our Core Leadership Team. This role will involve responsibility for overseeing pastoral care, being the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead and supporting the everyday running of the Prep School among other roles and responsibilities. The successful candidate will be interested in career progression with excellent communication, organisation and administrative skills.

To apply for the role, please visit our website where you will find a specific job description and application form.  Our recruitment team can also be contacted by telephone on 01635 253172 or via recruitment@thorngroveschool.co.uk

Closing Date: Midday on Monday 21st February, 2022

Interviews: from Monday 28th February, 2022

Prospective candidates are invited to discuss the post with Emmanuelle Brooks, School Administrator on 01635 253172 or by emailing recruitment@thorngroveschool.co.uk

Thorngrove is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
