Job overview

Shrewsbury House School Trust is a charitable trust that operates three independent schools that seek to provide the best possible day school education for children aged between 3 and 13.  The Trust is made up of two co-educational pre-preparatory schools, Shrewsbury House Pre-Preparatory School and The Rowans School, and a leading boys’ preparatory school, Shrewsbury House School.

Established in 1865, Shrewsbury House School is one of England’s oldest and leading boys’ preparatory schools.  It currently educates 345 boys aged 7 to 13 and has a reputation for excellence in all areas of its provision.  The school aims to educate the whole child by providing unequalled opportunities and support for the ongoing development of academic, cultural, aesthetic, moral, sporting and practical dimensions of the boys’ lives.  Shrewsbury House boys emerge at age 13 as intellectually curious young men who have had numerous opportunities to reach their full potential and shine.

The Executive Head Elect of Shrewsbury House School Trust now seeks an ambitious and committed Senior Deputy Head of the highest calibre to play a central role in the leadership and daily management of Shrewsbury House.  The Senior Deputy Head will work to nurture and maintain the excellent educational standards for which the school is renowned, whilst also helping to design and implement strategy and modernise the school’s culture to ensure that every member of the community flourishes.

This person will bring a proven and successful leadership track record with a management approach based on openness, collaboration and excellent communication skills.  The successful candidate will also understand and be committed to the Trust’s ethos and values whilst looking ahead to the future with a genuine sense of ambition.  This is a rare opportunity for someone with talent and ability to work alongside a dynamic new Executive Head to help shape the future of Shrewsbury House through their leadership.
