Following the successful appointment of the present incumbent to headship, we now seek to appoint a highly experienced Senior Deputy Head. Reporting directly to the Head, the appointee will have whole school responsibility for the day to day operation of the School. S/he will have oversight of the implementation of the School’s Strategic Vision 2019-24 and deputise for the Head, as well as attend all meetings of the Board of Governors and its committees. For individuals aspiring to headship, this post offers an excellent opportunity to develop as a leader in one of the leading schools in the country.


The successful candidate will bring significant experience of senior leadership and management, the pastoral and/or academic work of successful schools, as well as organisational management skills and strategic ability. S/he will be a highly visible and collaborative senior leader. Outstanding communication skills and the personal authority to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents and other stakeholders are essential, as is a commitment to the vision and values of City of London School.

City of London School is an independent school based in London for boys aged 10-18.

The school site is situated by the Thames. It has over 20 acres of sports pitches. It was established in 1834 and moved to its present site in 1986. The school is governed by a board and by the City of London Corporation, which appoints its governors.
