About the Role

The St Monica’s Before and After School Care program (SMOOSH) operates a service led by a team of qualified, experienced and energetic educators who are highly enthusiastic and enjoy working with children. The centre endeavours to make every child’s experience a positive one, full of fun, creative and affirming. We are seeking an Educator to work with our care team.

This position is temporary in nature as it replaces an employee who has resigned during the school year and the position will not be filled until the following school year.

Essential Criteria

Applicants will be assessed on demonstrated evidence of:

  • A thorough knowledge of the My Time, Our Place Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards.
  • Proven and effective leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of high quality educational and care programs for groups of school age children.
  • A proven capacity to provide inclusive programs, which are based on the recorded observations and interpretation of children’s responses, needs and interests.
  • A sound ability to provide programs, which have a commitment to active involvement of families and local community.
  • A genuine passion for mentoring and leading a team of educators.
  • A proven ability to implement and manage effective administrative systems.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the ACT Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations and the implications of child protection policies.
  • A willingness to support the ethos and mission of Catholic education.
