£22,497 per annum pro rata

Based at the Joseph Wright Centre

Derby College Group is seeking a highly effective, passionate and inspiring people manager to timetable and deploy a team of in-class ESWs to meet the daily needs of students with inclusion needs.

We know that one size does not fit all; know that our young adults come to college with different experiences; we know that there isn’t one way to be, one way to learn, one way to support; and we know that the role of Senior ESW can be challenging but rewarding.

We value the ability to build good working relationships, the ability to inspire confidence and lead by example; to support and challenge colleagues to excel. We value practical problem solving and using your initiative. We value compassionate agitation regarding Inclusion and trying to be a little better every day.

We offer you the opportunity to be part of the happy team of inclusionists based at our Joseph Wright Centre as well as the opportunity to be part of the larger, vibrant, and diverse cross-college Inclusion team of ESWs, Communication Support Workers (CSW), Trainers, Specialist Teachers, Specialist Assessors and Inclusion Coordinators.

What we require in return is that you have experience of supporting students with inclusion needs in an educational setting as well as managing a multi-skilled team of staff. That you have the ability to assist in the initial assessment of those learners sharing an inclusion need, liaising with curriculum staff to identify where support would be most beneficial and setting up appropriate educational and personal support for those students.

You will also need to evidence achievement of a Level 2 maths and English qualification and a relevant level 3 qualification (or be willing to work towards this in a set timeframe).

Closing date for applications is 2 December 2021

Interviews will be held on Friday 10 December 2021.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
