Hours and Working Weeks: 30 hours 30 minutes - Term Time + 5 days
Southgate School (formally Lydgate) is looking for an exceptional ETA to start as soon as possible, to work in our innovative, nurturing school to meet the needs of complex young people from 4-16. Our days are challenging but deeply rewarding. A strong understanding of children on the autistic spectrum and PDA, where learning is planned largely on an individual basis, would be an advantage. An ETA in this school needs to learn a huge range of different strategies and approaches. You should be able to deliver learning under the supervision of the teacher to individuals and small groups of pupils.
The successful candidate will:
- be committed to our whole school nurture approach
- use personalised approaches to help pupils achieve their potential
- be resilient, able to reflect and think out of the box to try new approaches
- preferably have experience of working with children with autistic traits and/or PDA
- have a passion for children's learning and wellbeing
- have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work as part of a team
- be positive, calm, sensitive and tenacious.
- have Team Teach training or the equivalent and be calmly confident about using positive physical intervention when this is required
- be committed to the safeguarding of children.
